Breastfeeding Services

Sutter Tracy’s breastfeeding program is one of the most successful around. Our lactation educators meet with every new mother before she leaves the hospital and provide follow up care afterwards. As a result, 85 percent of new mothers delivering at Sutter Tracy are breastfeeding by the time they leave the hospital, compared to 62 percent nationally. Six months later, 61 percent are still breastfeeding, compared to only 25 percent nationwide.

As an added service, the Obstetrics Department’s Lactation Clinic rents high quality electric Medela breast pumps and sells a variety of nursing bras. The new Baby Bungalow Corner located in the hospital Gift Shop sells Medela electric breast pumps, as well as breast pump replacement parts and kits, breastfeeding support pillows and other breastfeeding supplies. Sutter Tracy is the only place in the Tracy area to rent or sell hospital grade electric breast pumps.

The Lactation Clinic is open for drop-in visitors Monday through Friday 11:30 am - 1:30 pm. You can also call our lactation consultants at 209-833-2419 for phone support or appointments outside of clinic hours. The hospital Gift Shop and Baby Bungalow Corner are open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and until 8 p.m. on select evenings during the week.
